Your first visit to Pinnacle Aerospace Academy. This includes a tour of the facility, meeting your instructor, reviewing training options, costs, timeline expectations, medical requirements, and setting up your student account, scheduling system, and training roadmap.

Goal: Understand the process, expectations, and next steps.

Discovery Flight

An introductory flight with a Certified Flight Instructor where you experience the controls, basic maneuvers, and what flight training is really like. No commitment required.

Includes:

  • Pre-flight briefing
  • Hands-on flying time
  • Overview of aircraft systems and safety
  • Post-flight discussion and training plan

Goal: Confirm aviation is right for you.

Student Pilot Certificate

Student Pilot Certificate

Application through the FAA (IACRA) to officially become a student pilot. This allows you to log training time and eventually fly solo.

Handled with your instructor.

Goal: Become legally recognized by the FAA as a student pilot.

3rd Class FAA Medical

Student Pilot Certificate

A medical exam with an FAA-approved Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) to ensure you meet health standards to fly.

Covers:

  • Vision and hearing
  • Heart and general health
  • Medical history review

Goal: Verify medical eligibility to solo and earn your private pilot certificate.

Pass FAA Written Exam

3rd Class FAA Medical

Pass FAA Written Exam

The FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test is a computerized exam covering:

  • Regulations
  • Airspace
  • Weather
  • Aerodynamics
  • Navigation
  • Performance and limitations

Completed after ground training and instructor endorsement.

Goal: Demonstrate required aeronautical knowledge.

Stage 1 – Pre-Solo

Stage 2 – Cross-Country

Focuses on fundamental flight skills.

Training includes:

  • Aircraft systems & checklists
  • Taxiing, takeoffs, landings
  • Climbs, descents, turns
  • Stalls and slow flight
  • Emergency procedures
  • Airport operations

Goal: Prepare for safe, independent solo flight.

First Solo

Stage 2 – Cross-Country

Stage 1 – Pre-Solo

Your first time flying the aircraft by yourself under instructor authorization.

A major milestone.

Demonstrates:

  • Aircraft control
  • Pattern operations
  • Decision-making
  • Safety and confidence

Goal: Prove readiness to act as pilot in command.

Stage 2 – Cross-Country

Expands training beyond the local airport.

Training includes:

  • Flight planning
  • Weather analysis
  • Weight & balance
  • Fuel management
  • Airspace operations
  • Navigation by pilotage, dead reckoning, and GPS
  • Night flying

Goal: Build real-world flying skills and situational awareness.

Solo Cross-Country

Stage 3 – Check-ride Preparation

You’ll complete FAA-required solo flights to other airports, including longer-distance routes.

Demonstrates:

  • Independent flight planning
  • En-route navigation
  • Airport operations at unfamiliar fields
  • Safe decision-making

Goal: Prove you can safely operate outside the training environment.

Stage 3 – Check-ride Preparation

Final polishing stage.

Includes:

  • Maneuver proficiency
  • Oral exam prep
  • Emergency scenarios
  • Mock check-rides
  • Knowledge review
  • Confidence building

Goal: Meet or exceed FAA Practical Test Standards.

Final evaluation with a Designated Pilot Examiner.

Two parts:

  • Oral exam (knowledge, planning, regulations)
  • Flight exam (maneuvers, navigation, emergencies)

Goal: Demonstrate full competence as a private pilot.

Private Pilot Certificate

Check-ride with FAA Examiner

Upon successful completion, you earn your FAA Private Pilot Certificate.

This allows you to:

  • Fly friends and family
  • Travel by aircraft
  • Continue into Instrument, Commercial, or career pilot training

You are now a certificated pilot.
